A sad story. Given it's Texas, I guess the anti-gay bigotry doesn't surprise me much, but it's still disturbing to read.
To a certain degree, I can relate. I have been treated a certain way because I have chronic pain and Fibromyalgia and instead of helping me, most doctors treat me as though I'm a criminal or drug seeker, which I am neither. I just want someone to listen to me and help me and figure out what is wrong...why I hurt constantly and why I am in excrutiating pain and having muscle spasms? And because they can't figure it out, they dismiss me, judge me and label me. It's happened so many times, I gave up. Now I live in horrible pain and don't know fully what is wrong. I know I have 2 herniated disks and arthritis and Fibromyalgia, but I suspect there is more wrong and instead of being treated with compassion and empathy, I was treated like an addict, which I'm not and never had been, all because I kept asking each doctor to help me or give me something to take this pain away, which they didn't do anyway. They would look at me with judgement and write in their little charts. Now I don't bother telling them anymore. I just deal with it by myself. And it's difficult and shouldn't be this way. But, it is that way.
